Overwhelmed in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom? Breath of the Wild can help

The Launch of Tears of the Kingdom – The Legend of Zelda has been a momentous time for all Zelda fans, and I’ve loved watching the fanbase at work — whether they’re roasting koroks alive or building a tank in a cave with a box of scraps. When I first picked up my Switch, however, I was disappointed. Tears of Kingdom just wasn’t doing it for me. Instead, I wound up playing and thoroughly enjoying an older game — Breath of Wild.

Tears of Kingdom It begins with a series sky islands that are similar to Great Plateau. BOTW. The tutorial will teach players how to move Link around, gain skills such as Fuse or Ultrahand and, eventually, enter the temple for a spiritual Skype with Zelda. The tutorial was a lot more difficult than when I first started to get used to the Great Plateau. Tears of Kingdom. The vertical nature of the world, combined with the ambition of the game’s new tools, left me constantly lost.

This is largely due to my own personal weaknesses in spatial awareness and physics puzzles, sure, but it’s still aggravating. It was time to get back to the basics. I decided to do a puzzle similar to that of the legendary Rocky training montage. Breath of WildIt was the ideal arena to play in. While you absolutely don’t need to play Breath of WildJump into the water to learn how. TearsIt seemed like a great way to get back on track.

You can play a few hours of Breath of WildReturn to TearsAs I expected, I’ve fallen back in love with my old game. While I first spent a few hours playing the game, my second hour was spent in Tears of KingdomStruggling to build a car is a difficult task. Breath of WildI used a large rock to roll down the hill, and then smashed a few naughty Bokoblins. Sure, it’s simple, but seeing a bokoblin get smeared by an unexpected boulder is also very good.

It is also possible to roll a stone downhill in Tears of the Kingdom — but that’s just one of many options. It’s possible to attach a rock with a missile or make a complex trebuchet. It’s so easy to get distracted by the possibilities, and I am not an engineer.

In just two hours, you can see the difference. Breath of WildShield-surfing, and solving shrines was a lot of fun. Before I really appreciated the absurdity you can do with Tears of Kingdom. I’ll return to TOTK soon — I’m excited to combine my stronger fundamentals with the truly ridiculous tools TearsIts players. But for now, I’m enjoying my nice, basic trip through Hyrule. Calamity Gannon was never defeated the first time I played. This might be the game where I save the kingdom.
