Nintendo Acquires Animation Studio And Renames It Nintendo Pictures

Nintendo purchased animation studio Dynamo Pictures, renaming it Nintendo Pictures in a surprise move. This studio will be focusing on creating visual content for Nintendo’s different IPs.

According to EurogamerIt’s not common for Nintendo to buy companies, despite recent Next-Level Games and SRD deals. Moreover, Nintendo Pictures’ – Dynamo was a production company behind several animated Pikmin shorts – work will be separate from Illumination, the animation studio behind the upcoming Super Mario Bros. Movie. Documentation of purchase:

Nintendo will purchase 100% (treasury and other shares excluded) of Dynamo Pictures to make it a fully owned subsidiary. This acquisition will help strengthen the production planning and structure of visual content within the Nintendo group. The Acquisition is expected to close on October 3, 2022…[and]This will only have a small effect on Nintendo’s financial results in this fiscal year.
