New York By Night brings Vampire-themed actual play to the Big Apple

New York at NightThe successor to the long-runningVampire: The Masquerade Actual play LA NightTwitch will premiere the new series, titled, on Friday evening. Paradox Interactive will debut new streaming content in 2022. Even if you’ve never played a game of Vampire You might find it useful to watch the live broadcast or on-demand video of this show at some point in your day. The show features some familiar faces and promises to be a leap forward for non-Dungeons & Dragons actual play.

After the rough launch Vampire’sParadox’s 5th Edition in 2018 has seen the franchise emerge from a diving. It began by purging White Wolf, which it purchased from CCP Games 2015, and providing greater oversight to the development team. It continued with a series of strong book releases — and the wildly popular livestream, LA NightThe series aired for 63 episodes beginning in 2018, and ended in 2019. Thanks to its loyal fan base, the show survived Geek & Sundry’s decline and inspired multiple By Night streams. It is due in large part to the outstanding work of series creator and storyteller. Jason Carl, Paradox’s brand marketing manager for World of Darkness. His cool and subtle style made him the perfect foil to big theatrical performances by B. Dave Walters (Black Dice Society, Invitation to Party), Erika Ishii (Apex Legends, Dimension 20), Xander Jeanneret (Invitation to Party), Cynthia Marie (Outbreak: UndeadJosephine McAdam and (Battle for Beyond). The vibe of a great beer and good friends is what makes some plays so successful. Vampire chronicles are far more theatrical — these players don’t break, and you’ll want to pour yourself a glass of wine for this show.

As with many other stories in fiction, Vampire, Carl’s work plays heavily on that universe’s two most powerful factions, the Anarchs and the Camarilla. Los Angeles was a stronghold for Anarchs with the Camarilla’s glamorous and independent-minded vampires. It is set in the modern world ofLA at Night, New York at NightThe city will be playing to older rules. Camarilla controls the Big Apple and opposing them poses a greater threat. While the World of Darkness can be a brutal, violent environment, expect to face more struggles for survival than the Valley and Hollywood.

A news release states that New York at Night will have at least three seasons this year, telling the stories of New York City’s vampire factions from the perspectives of both the ruling Camarilla and the Anarchs who reject their authority. The first season will be about a small group of Anarchs and season two will feature the Camarilla. Season 3 will see both stories collide. It’s an ambitious experiment in narrative structure rarely seen in studio actual play shows, but it tracks with the company’s past efforts. Carl and the other players were innovators from day one. Their goal was to create high-quality productions and costuming..

Season 1’s cast includes returning player and actor Alexander WardAssoc. Aabria Iyengar (Exandria Unlimited, The Adventure Zone), voice actor Mayanna Berrin (Fire Emblem Heroes), and cinematographer Joey Rassool (The Guild). In the first season, characters will explore how they relate to more independent vampires.

Iyengar has almost the whole industry to her credit, making her By Night debut as Ventrue Margot “Fuego” Walker, a community leader focused on protecting her neighborhood from threats both mundane and undead. Ward is willing to trade the internal monstrousness of his shadowy.LA at Night Nosferatu jasper offers subtler horrors. Isaac Brooke is a Tzimisce criminal who builds a criminal organization for his own reasons. Rassool’s Reyes Malcolm is a bestial Gangrel trying to recover his old life while rubbing everyone the wrong way. Berrin’s artistic tagger Serif is a Ravnos, a clan oft-revised in VampireLore is often interpreted as wandering thrill seekers with an open mind to the rules. Reyes and Serif LA NightSome fans might see echos of Annabelle, Erika Ishii’s perspectival character from the previous series.

LA Night was notable for its sprawling cast of characters, including Critical Role’s Taliesin Jaffe, Marisha Ray, and Matthew Mercer as well as Dimension 20’s Brennan Lee Mulligan. Shayne Eastin and Alex Frew were among the most popular characters, as was Noura Ibrahim and Luis Carazo. What to Expect New York at Night to continue this tradition of “special Vampire guests” who enrichAnd extend its world. Like in LA at NightNew York will be the star of this movie. Jason Carl is skilled at scene setting and can write lyric love letters about real world locations, both known and unknown. Fans of Brennan Lee Mulligan’s supernatural New York in Dimension 20’s Unsleeping Town are likely to enjoy Carl’s take on the five boroughs.
