New Smite Update, Heavenly Light, Brings Queen of Cards Izanami

Smite’s newest ultimate skin reward – Izanami, Queen of Cards – makes its way onto Xbox today with a mixture of misdirection and panache.

This is no ordinary skin – it’s what we call a “Tier 5” skin, representing the pinnacle of SmiteOur Heavenly Light event will reward you with skin design. The Queen of Cards Izanami has four distinct forms. Each is inspired by a specific suit of cards, and the corresponding symbology of the tarot, which makes her somewhat of a stack deck. When Izanami uses her ability to “Fade Away,” this stunning skin will change between its four forms, each of which is functionally an entirely separate skin. The Queen of Cards has a unique bonus. An emote evolves when you do quests that are specific to the suit she is using. You will receive four cards each time you win an assist or kill while playing Izanami. If all four matches, the upgraded emote for her current form will become permanent unlocked.

As you play through the Heavenly Light event, you’ll join Mulan and Sun Wukong as they investigate mysterious ghosts in China – and you’ll get some amazing skins. There are four chapters to the Heavenly Light Event. Each chapter comes with a bonus skin such as Funny Bones Baron Sanmedi. Collect all of a chapter’s rewards to get each free bonus skin, and collect every reward across all four chapters to unlock Queen of Cards Izanami. Don’t want to wait? That’s not all we’ve got for this next update: a swarm of tiny robots is taking to the Battlegrounds with the Chibi Bots Battle Pass! You can now conquer all your foes with a compact and cute package such as Doom Bot Hades and Freezy Bot Ymir and Beaky Bot Thoth. All four skins can be obtained by completing the Battle Pass. We cannot wait for these little terrors to hit the Battleground!

Last but not least, we’re excited to give the community a long-requested update: Expanded Custom Match options, letting you play all sorts of fun new modes with your friends! There are now pre-saved defaults that can be used as starting points for creating custom games. These include the most common modes and more competitive ones like Competitive Conquest. SmitePro League and Scrums are available as well as Ranked. Each preset can be customized with many fun new options, such as cooldown reduction and adjusting mana cost. We can’t wait to see how you all use these options to design fun new custom match experiences.
