New Mafia game will join the family, Hangar 13 announces

Hangar 13 is developing a new Mafia game. In a developer interview for the original game’s 20th anniversary, general manager Roman Hladík revealed an upcoming game in the Mafia franchise.

“I’m happy to confirm we’ve started work on an all-new Mafia project!” said Hladík. “While it’s a few years away and we can’t share anything more right now, we’re really excited to keep working on this beloved franchise and to entertain our players with new stories.”

Original MafiaThe 2002 game follows the story of a fictional crime family living in Chicago, which was modeled after Chicago during the 1930s. In the subsequent Mafia game, different crime families were represented in various fictionalized places at different times. The games were all remastered in 2020. Hangar 13 began work on the Volt project code-named Volt. It was to have superheroes playing online. Take-Two Interactive cancelled the game in 2021.

The upcoming Mafia Project is not being discussed.
