New Global Xbox Survey Finds Families Plan to Connect Through Gaming This Holiday
56% believe that the transfer of videogame enjoyment from older generations to younger generations constitutes a wonderful tradition.

A new global survey, conducted by YouGov and commissioned by Xbox, suggests that families are using video games to better connect during the holidays – across the globe and across generations. According to 38% of the survey respondents, video games were ranked as one their top five favorite family activities.

In addition to bringing people together during the holidays, survey findings suggest gaming’s fantastical virtual worlds provide a much-needed escape from real-world pressures to help people relax. Microsoft asked YouGov for a national representative survey to determine the online age of 13+ in six markets. These were: United States of America, United Kingdom of Australia, Brazil Brazil, Germany and Mexico. This survey was designed to understand consumer perceptions and behaviors around video games in relation to holiday traditions and other activities. The final sample size was n=1,404 for the United States; n=1,336 for the United Kingdom; n=1,254 from Australia; n=1,256 Brazil; n=1,254 Germany and n=1,267 Mexico.
