New DC movie & show releases: What’s coming out in 2022 and beyond
Warner Bros. has a wide range of animated and TV series that bring the DC Comics world to life. There are many more being added every day. The next episode might have Wonder Woman or Batman as Wonder Woman.
Some titles are currently in production, and the trailers for some of them have been released. Some titles are already in production, others are still on the schedule. Yet. Still, the next time Marvel snaps its fingers and puts 18 more movies on the MCU release calendar, expect DC’s list to double. Warner Bros. intends to release four DC-based films in theaters by 2022. There will also be new TV series on a regular basis. To quote DC Films president Walter Hamada: “With every movie that we’re looking at now, we are thinking, ‘What’s the potential Max spinoff?’”
With that in mind, here’s the latest of what we know about every new DC comic movie and show.

Dec. 15, 2022, Peacemaker
John Cena will star in an HBO Max-exclusive TV series spinning out of James Gunn’s Suicide Squad. Cena will reprise his role as the Peacemaker, a kind of “douchey Captain America,” who was one of the inspirations for Watchmen’s the Comedian.

Oct 2014 saw the announcement of Batman’s first solo movie. Ben Affleck originally was to be the director and co-writer of the script alongside Geoff Johns. But he apparently decided to become more involved in acting, so he quit directing in January 2017.
In February 2017, Matt Reeves became the director and officially named the project. Batman. In July 2017, he confirmed that he scraped Affleck’s original script, which involved Joe Manganiello as Deathstroke, and was reworking it from scratch. Reeves did not confirm whether Manganiello was still in the movie.
Ben Affleck has officially stepped down as Batman’s lead actor. Robert Pattinson was chosen in May 2019. New film features a young Batman fighting for Gotham against the evils of the Riddler. Catwoman Zoe Kravitz is also on board. The COVID-19 pandemic caused production to be halted, but now the film will be released in 2022. Watch the most recent version. Batman trailer here.
DC League of Super-Pets May 20, 2022
This is a CG animated version DC League of Super-PetsIn the summer of 2022, series will debut in cinemas. The animated feature, which was directed by Jared Stern (Green Eggs and Ham), and Sam Levine, will see Krypto, Ace, and Streaky, Super-Dogs, join the cast.Ralph Wreck-It) should give kids something to chew on until they’re old enough for the edgier stuff.
Black Adam: July 29, 2022
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has been attached to the Black Adam name since 2008 and fans have been eagerly awaiting Johnson’s take on the character. An independent Black Adam movie was released in January 2017. Black Adam is one of Shazam’s arch-nemeses, but in recent comic developments, the character has turned into more of an antihero.
Warner Bros. announced that they will be releasing this information in 2020 Black AdamIt will include an introduction of several Justice Society members and older versions of the Justice League such as Hawkman (Aldis Horge), Cyclone (“Quintessa Swindell”), Doctor Fate (“Pierce Brosnan”), Atom-Smasher” (Noah Centino), Hawkman” (Aldis Hödge), Cyclone (“Quintessa Swindell”), Doctor Fate (Pierce Brosnan).
The Flash, Nov. 4, 2022
It has had its fair share of fast shifts among directors, producers, screenwriters and other staff members. But at the moment, Ezra Miller is set to star in a film that takes some plot elements from DC Comics’ Flashpoint storyline, bouncing between different timelines in the DC Universe. The film will feature multiple Flashes as well multiple Batmans. Michael Keaton and Ben Affleck are set to reprise their respective roles.
Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom: December 16, 2022
The success of the initial AquamanThe sequel could have been a natural evolution. The first film, while perhaps a bit cliché, was fun as hell and a stunning visual spectacle. It was obvious that there would be a sequel. Aquaman 2In February 2019, it was approved for publication.
James Wan (Director) dropped many sequel teases in anticipation of the film’s release Aquaman’s mid-credits scene. Black Manta (a.k.a. David Kane is still fine, despite his fall from a cliff. Randall Park portrays Dr. Stephen Shin.Always Be My Maybe) has secured Black Manta’s suit. The two strike a deal — Shin will help Kane get his revenge on Aquaman if Kane leads him to Atlantis. While it’s unclear if Park will return for Aquaman 2In December 2018, Wan stated to Polygon that he was hopeful the actor would make a comeback.
Shazam!: Fury Of The Gods: June 2, 2023
Use Shazam! Henry Gayden is the screenwriter and will write the script again. David F. Sandberg, producer Peter Safran, and director David F. Sandberg are also expected back after the huge success of the previous film. Asher Angel and Zachary Levi, who respectively played Shazam, and Billy Bastion in the first film, will be returning with most of the cast. Use Shazam! And maybe even Sinbad? Okay, probably not. However, Helen Mirren is aboard with Lucy Liu as the villains. They are a trio from ancient Greek goddesses.
The Sandman
Netflix’s TV adaptation of The SandmanThe comics legend written and illustrated by Neil Gaiman, is now in production. Starring Tom Sturridge and Gwendoline Christie, it stars Tom Sturridge playing the Dreamlord and Gwendoline Christy as the literal devil.
Blue Beetle
DC’s first adaptation of Blue Beetle will bring the character’s third hero, Jaime Reyes, to the screen, marking the comic book outfit’s first Latinx-lead film (and perhaps the first Latinx superhero to hit the big screen). In the miniseries 2006, Keith Giffen and John Rogers created this character. Infinite CrisisJaime Reyes (Mexican-American teenager) is the protagonist of a rather bizarre superhero origin story. He discovers an alien artifact named Scarab which attaches to him while he sleeps. This gives him creepy cool body armor as well as a variety of superpowers that are very difficult for him to use. Angel Manuel Soto, a Puerto Rican director, is likely to direct his cinematic film.Charm City Kings
Batgirl
Joss Whedon quit script development. BatgirlThe production went into limbo and remained there until it was completed. Birds of PreyChristina Hodson, the writer took a chance. Now the movie has a star — Leslie Grace as Barbara Gordon — and a home on HBO Max. DC FanDome showcased the first glimpse of the movie, its cast and crew.
Wonder Woman 3
Wonder Woman spent significant time in her past between her first DC Extended Universe solo movie, Wonder Woman It took place in World War II. Wonder Woman 1984It took place in the 1980s. Wonder WomanPatty Jenkins, director and cowriter of the series has said that Patty Jenkins will direct the film.
“I have pretty clear plans for Wonder Woman 3,” Jenkins told Vanity Fair in January. “Whether I [direct]It doesn’t matter if it is obvious, but I can see where her arc should be completed in my version of Wonder Woman. I have great passion for that.”
And it’s definitely happening: After the first weekend on HBO Max, Warner Bros. Pictures immediately greenlit the threequel. Jenkins announced that she’s actively at work at the movie during a conversation with TV’s Wonder Woman, Lynda Carter, at the 2021 DC FanDome.
