Netflix’s new Bird Box movie is heading to Barcelona this summer

Alliteration and post-apocalyptic thrillers are sure to please fans of both. Bird Box BarcelonaNetflix will premiere a new spinoff film of 2018’s starring Sandra Bullock on Thursday, July 14. Netflix released its first teaser on Tuesday. It shows a number of terrified people running with blindfolds and jumping from high buildings.

You will never know if you haven’t watched Bird BoxYou may be surprised at the extent to which this alone can make you an exception. The film received mixed reviews when it was released, but within one month, Netflix had the highest number of viewers.

In the original, a wave of mysterious suicides unaccounted for spreads throughout Europe and Asia. The result is a worldwide panic that leads to the destruction of civilisation. After learning that the suicides are being caused by ghostly creatures that inflict mass hysteria when seen, survivors begin wearing blindfolds while outside and using caged birds to alert themselves to the creatures’ premise. Basically, it’s like M. Night Shyamalan’s The Happening meets Death Stranding.

Bird Box BarcelonaIt is the first of a number of local language spin-offs that will be set within the same universe as the original. This makes sense given that other Netflix purchases like Money HeistNetflix is likely to continue using the same method of creating localized versions of popular titles, in an effort to capitalise on Bird Box’s initial success.
