Netflix’s First Kill canceled after one season
First KillAfter one season, ‘The Netflix Original Series’ starring Sarah Catherine Hook & Imani Lewis has been cancelled.
According to Deadline, the streamer has passed on greenlighting a second season of the supernatural teen romance drama, citing unnamed sources who stated that the show “did not have the staying power of most Netflix hits [and] still did not meet thresholds for viewing and completion of episodes.”
Emma Roberts produced the executive and Felicia Henderson wrote it. V. E. Schwab was also involved in writing. First Kill The story follows Juliette Hook, a young vampire falling in love with Calliope Lewis, a fellow student at high school. Only later does she discover her crush descends from a long line descended monster hunters. The series was received positively when it premiered back in June, cracking Netflix’s weekly Top 10 for English-language TV series within its first three days and clearing 100 million views within its first month.
Polygon review First Kill back in June, with critic Olivia Truffaut-Wong writing, “No matter how uneven some aspects of First KillIt is a love story with an epic heart that has the potential of giving audiences, especially young ones, the opportunity to feel validated. There’s no downside to that.”
