Netflix Tekken anime series announced, release date in 2022

Netflix released a teaser trailer and announced a new anime series based upon the Tekken fighting video games. It will be called the series. Tekken: BloodlineThis film will feature Jin Kazama’s character and launch in 2022.

Netflix uploaded the trailer to YouTube with the following blurb.

“Power is everything.” Jin Kazama learned the family self-defense arts, Kazama-Style Traditional Martial Arts, from his mother at an early age. He was still powerless after a terrible evil appeared and destroyed everything he loved. This changed his entire life. Jin became angry with himself and set out to seek revenge. His quest will lead to the ultimate battle on a global stage — The King of Iron Fist Tournament.

The trailer and this snippet suggest that the series will be very close to the Tekken lore. Jin is able to train with his mom, fights some bullies and escapes an Ogre attack. He goes to Heihachi Mishima, his grandfather for more training. A few glimpses are given of Kazuya Misshima, King, and Paul Phoenix.

Netflix has been focusing on the adaptation of video games; Netflix announced last week that its Resident Evil live-action series will be released in July.
