Motive Studio Announces Single-Player Iron Man Game As First Part Of New EA/Marvel Collaboration

Today, Electronic Arts’ Motive Studio announced that it is working with Marvel Games to develop an Iron Man video game. Untitled as yet, this game will be a third-person action, single-player title. It stars Tony Stark, everyone’s favorite billionaire, playboy, and philanthropist. Electronic Arts announces the release of this new game in collaboration with Marvel.

Motive Studio aims to tap into Tony Stark’s rich history, as per the announcement. Studio hopes to “channel the complexity, charisma and creative genius that Tony Stark has, enabling players feel what it is like to play Iron Man.”

We are delighted to partner with Motive Studio and bring their original vision for one of Marvel’s most beloved, important and powerful characters,” Bill Rosemann, Vice President and Creative Director at Marvel Games, stated in an announcement. “Their experience delivering both established entertainment worlds and thrilling gameplay – combined with their authentic passion for the armored icon – will fuel our quest to deliver a love letter to a legendary hero in the form of the ultimate Iron Man video game.”

The Iron Man team at Motive Studio is led by executive producer Olivier Proulx, who recently produced Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy for Square Enix and Eidos-Montréal. Proulx also worked in production leadership for Marvel’s Avengers. He’s joined by Ian Frazier (Star Wars: Squadrons, Mass Effect Andromeda), Maëlenn Lumineau (Immortals Fenyx Rising, Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey), and JF Poirier (Star Wars: Squadrons, Star Wars: Battlefront II).

Proulx stated in an announcement that it was an honour and privilege to be able to create a game inspired by one of today’s most famous superheroes. We have the opportunity to tell a unique and original story. Marvel has encouraged us to make something unique. Our team enjoys a lot freedom which makes them so interesting.”

Motive Studio’s Iron Man Project is in preproduction. It is highly unlikely that we will ever see it. Motive Studio is working on the Dead Space remake. The game is expected to debut on January 27. Iron Man has previously appeared in Iron Man VR for 2020 and Marvel’s Avengers 2020, both live-service titles. Iron Man appeared in the previous two Sega console games, which were inspired by the Iron Man Marvel Cinematic Universe films. He has appeared in numerous games, including the Marvel vs. Capcom series as well as the upcoming Marvel’s Midnight Suns.

This announcement was a bit of a miss at the Disney and Marvel Games Showcase streams at D23. There, they announced another triple A Marvel game featuring Black Panther and Captain America. Under the direction of Amy Hennig, industry legend Amy Hennig, Skydance New Media is currently developing that game. Find out more about the game by clicking here.
