Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak Demo Out Tomorrow, New Monsters And Areas Announced

Monster Hunter Rise launched the Capcom Showcase today with many new areas for hunters and plenty of monsters ready to fight when the expansion is released. You can also download a demo starting tomorrow.

First, the Jungle has returned from the second generation Monster Hunters. This area was completely redone in Sunbreak. Although the Jungle may sound like it is only filled with trees, other foliage, its location on the coast means that there are plenty of beaches and ruins nearby.

Sunbreak is offering a variety of interesting new targets for hunters looking to find new monsters. Monster Hunter Frontiers welcomes back Espinas. The name Espinas, which means “espina” in Spanish, refers to thorny. This monster is covered in sharp spines and will cut through hunters who are on its side. Espinas, as the trailer says, is a creature that lives a tranquil life but can be disturbed and fly in a fury.

Gore Magala, the flagship terror from Monster Hunter 4, returns as well and will surely punish plenty of hunters in Master Rank quests. This monster is sightless and uses its sensitive wing membranes to find its prey or track down anyone who antagonizes it. Gore Magala turns into a mad frenzy when it gets in trouble. It has two devilish ears that appear on the top of its head. This makes it an interesting thematic pairing to the Sunrise monster Malzeno. Today’s footage featured two more Sunbreak monsters. Daimyo Hermitaur, Pyre Rakna Kadaki and Monster Hunter 2: A flame-embued spider foe.

Tomorrow, Monster Hunter Rise is available for free on Switch and PC. The free trial will include the new Jungle area to explore, and players will be able to hunt the already announced Astalos and Malzeno. For experienced hunters, the demo will provide an opportunity to try out the new Switch Skill Swap mechanic and new Silkbind attacks. Online hunts can be taken on by up to four people. The demo allows you to play the same hunt multiple times.

Capcom also provided a preview of the content to come in the next major patch, and detailed the plan for future updates. Lucent Nargacuga will be the star of the first update in August and will be joined by a new hunting area, Foremorn Arena, as well as even more monsters. Fall and winter updates are planned with injections of fresh monsters and variants with more coming in 2023.

Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak will be available on Switch and PC in a matter of weeks. To access the Sunbreak content, players will need to complete all the story quests required to get to the core game.
