‘Molly Shannon 2K23’ video game skit spotlights host’s return to SNL

I can’t tell if it’s a lifestyle simulation, rhythm game, fighting game, sports video game, or a WarioWarelike collection of all four, but despite the jank-ass last-gen visuals and animations, I kind of want to see what Molly Shannon 2K23 This is.

It seems to have a deep career mode at the very least. Shannon was the former Saturday Night LiveStar (from 1995-2001) returned as host of April 8, and this absurd reimagining her life in an annual videogame series (going back 989 Sports, the PSOne) was one gag.

Yes, it contains some gaming-culture humors (especially the kicker), but Molly Shannon 2K23 does perfectly nail Jimmy Fallon’s over-affected laugh at everything his guests say. There’s also the horror of finding out not only you’re appearing in a video game, you’re not even getting paid for it, which is still a timely (and touchy) subject.

The dialogue options for the bad-guy/good-guy paths are obvious, just like in many role-playing sports games. I can’t understand why anyone would choose option B at the NYU commencement speech unless they were making a YouTube walkthrough showing all of the cinematics. The summary is: Molly Shannon 2K23 It is still a work-in-progress. Molly Shannon 2K24 Prior to adding new modes, the core functions of the system will be improved. 7.5/10
