Microsoft Signs 10-Year Deal To Bring Call Of Duty To Nintendo

Microsoft signed a legally binding agreement for Call of Duty over ten years with Nintendo. The deal was made in anticipation of Activision Blizzard’s $69 Billion acquisition.

Microsoft tried to show the U.S. Federal Trade Commission, which was involved in the acquisition of the company last year that it does not constitute monopolistic activity. Microsoft, however, has not had an easy time of it. The company, however, has tried to counter this by being proactive and trying to get approval from the FTC. This includes promising PlayStation that Call of Duty titles will continue to be released on Sony’s consoles as well as agreeing to bring Call of Duty onto Nintendo hardware.

Brad Smith, Microsoft vice-chair and president of Microsoft has now announced TwitterMicrosoft officially signed a 10-year legally binding agreement with Nintendo for Call of Duty. The complete statement Smith issued on behalf Microsoft can be found here:

“Microsoft and Nintendo have now negotiated and signed a binding 10-year legal agreement to bring Call of Duty to Nintendo players – the same day as Xbox, with full feature and content parity – so they can experience Call of Duty just as Xbox and PlayStation gamers enjoy Call of Duty. Call of Duty will be available on other platforms indefinitely. We want to offer more options to gamers and provide more competition for the market.

Many people have begun to speculate about how Activision Blizzard plans to bring Call of Duty games onto Nintendo consoles. They are typically much slower than current-gen Xbox or PlayStation consoles and offer less features and content.

Call of Duty, as I can guess, will most likely follow cloud gaming on Nintendo Switch unless Nintendo releases a more powerful console. We will only know the outcome when it happens.
