Microsoft is updating its PC gaming store to make Xbox Game Pass easier to use

The Xbox App on PC will get a handful of improvements that make it more user-friendly for Xbox Game Pass and Xbox games.

Xbox Insiders have the opportunity to try out several features, including Xbox Cloud Gaming, and modding for the very first time. The app will offer other general enhancements, including the option to select separate drives to install games and improved download speeds. Xbox Insiders can already test the update, which will be available to all users later.

Jason Beaumont (partner director of Xbox experiences) shared the features through a Nov update on the Xbox Channel.

This move is part of an overall push to support Xbox Gaming for Windows PC users. Microsoft had announced that Xbox Game Pass would become part of Windows 11 in June. But, the fact that people can play Xbox Game Pass on their computer doesn’t necessarily mean it is optimized. This is a significant step towards improving the user experience.

Players also have access to their local files. This allows them to modify Xbox Game Pass games from their computer. Modifiable games will be noted on the game detail page.

There are some other additions, like a toggle for using high-dynamic range color (HDR) with older games, as well as a new section for cloud gaming — which gives Windows PC users the ability to play console games — when the app is updated.

Xbox Insider is testing the new features. Anyone who is interested can register for the program to get access to these new features.
