Metroid Prime remaster comes to Nintendo Switch

Original Metroid Prime is coming to Nintendo Switch — and it’s a remaster. During a Nintendo Direct livestream, the publisher announced that the remaster of the original game in the first-person reinvention of the Metroid series will be available on the eShop “later today.”

The graphics are also improved. Metroid Prime RemasteredDual-stick controls will be implemented, a significant update from the original entry in this classic series. The remaster will include a setting for controlling the game that replicates the feeling of the original, and other options. However, there are hopes that Nintendo will rerelease the Metroid Prime series on Switch.

Metroid Prime Metroid Prime 2: EchoesThese were released originally on GameCube in 2002, and 2004 respectively. Metroid Prime 3: CorruptionThese two Wii games were followed in 2007 Nintendo eventually released another game. Metroid Prime Trilogy Wii collection, updated the two first games with widescreen, enhanced visuals and motion control.

Next game of the franchise Metroid Prime 4Nintendo Switch is currently working on a similar feature. This was originally announced by Nintendo in 2017. Metroid Prime 4Retro Studios is the studio behind the original trilogy.

Samus Aran’s most recent adventure, Metroid DreadThe game, titled ‘The Last of the Metroids’ was published on Switch in October 2021. In Polygon’s review of the game, we praised the game’s fresh take on the Metroid formula and its surprising approach to challenge and to letting the player get lost: “Dread reimagines the Metroid format with confidence and care, and it trusts the player to make leaps along the way.”
