Mei removed from Overwatch 2 for 15 days

Overwatch 2Another hero is being lost, and this time it will be for approximately two weeks. Blizzard Entertainment tweeted Monday that it’s taking Overwatch 2Due to an Ice Wall bug, Mei was taken offline by hero. Mei should be able to return to the game on November 15th if all goes accordingly. It is a terrible feeling to be a main Mei. A sign of out-of-order? This is not the weapon charm that I expected.

“We are temporarily disabling Mei to address a bug with her Ice Wall ability that allows heroes to reach unintended locations,” Blizzard tweetedFrom its customer support account. “We are working to address these issues as quickly as possible and aim to bring Mei back in our next upcoming patch which is set for November 15.”

Mei could fly outside of the map boundary thanks to the bug. The bug can be seen in action here Overwatch 2’s Busan map, via a clip posted to Reddit. It shows a Kiriko player using the Swift Step ability in order to teleport Mei. Later, the players use the exploit to transport Symmetra out of the map, too — effectively allowing them invincibility AndIt’s easy to find targets as no one can see them.

While this is Mei’s first time sitting things out, these kinds of suspensions are not unheard of for Overwatch 2Its rocky debut last month. Heroes Bastion and Torbjörn were removed from the game after they unintentionally locked players out of nearly one-third of the game’s roster, as well as other bugs. They were both removed from the game in October 10, but were added back in last week.

Overwatch 2’s launch has been rough. On launch day, the game faced massive queues due to an influx of players, followed by what Blizzard called a “mass DDoS” attack which made the game largely unplayable for a significant amount of players. Another controversial bug was discovered soon after. Overwatch 2In-game currency was used to buy character skins by players. It was allegedly due to the game recording keystrokes when players were too focused on the Hero Gallery. That’s all on top of controversy surrounding its battle pass and monetization.

Overwatch 2’s Halloween event is live now with co-op missions. Thankfully, Mei’s not involved there.
