Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Hits 5 Million Sold In 11 Days As PS5 Surpasses 46.5 Million Units

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has outsold Super Mario Bros. Wonder which, after two weeks, sold 4.3 millions copies. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has also been named as the fastest-selling PlayStation Studios title just three days following its release. 

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is a success because its predecessors Marvel Spider-Man and Marvel Spider-Man Miles Morales have been so successful. The PlayStation 5 sold 46.5 millions units in the last Sony financial quarter that ended on September 30. That’s a lot of people who might have bought Marvel’s Spider-Man 2! 

The PS5 sold 46.6 millions units over its life, and this is thanks to the strong performance of Sony’s fiscal year 2023 second quarter, when it sold 4.9 Million PS5 consoles. It’s an increase of 1.6 millions over the previous quarter. In this same quarter, Sony sold through 4.7 million first-party games – Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 was not yet released – and, in total, 67.6 million PlayStation 4 and PS5 software, which includes any game released for the consoles. Sony claims that 67% of games bought for PlayStation consoles in the third quarter ended on September 30th were downloaded digitally. 

Sony will have 107,000,000 monthly active PlayStation Network users by the end of the quarter. PlayStation Plus has 47,4 million subscribers.
