Marvel Magic: The Gathering cards coming in 2025

Avengers: The Avengers are preparing to assemble alongside Planeswalkers. Magic the Gathering. Hasbro and Marvel announced Monday a blockbuster partnership to bring collectible products and “tentpole sets” of cards based on the iconic superheroes to the leading collectible card game. The cards will begin to be sold in retail stores starting 2025.

The crossover, per Hasbro, is part of a “multi-year, multi-set deal,” so this isn’t just a one-off drop like previously announced Universes Beyond sets that brought The FalloutThe following are some examples of how to get started: Jurassic ParkThis 30-year old card game has been given a fresh new flavor. This initiative is being pushed as something even more expansive than previous collabs — bigger even than sets featuring characters from The Lord of the Rings novels or Dr. Who. That’s clear from the very dramatic announcement video — and its positioning the same week as a highly-anticipated quarterly earnings call for the Rhode Island-based game and toy manufacturer.

It’s obviously going to be quite some time before anyone gets to see what these cards look like. The video shows that no cards have been released yet, as it is years before the release of the first Marvel-based set.

It seems that this is the largest Marvel-Hasbro partnership yet. The Magic of the Word, one that might have real mainstream appeal — especially if the cards are cool and thoughtfully designed. It’ll be fun, at the very least, to see if they use some deeper cuts like the Great Lakes Avengers, or The In-Betweener.
