Listen To A Soundtrack Preview For The Outlast Trials Now, Vinyl Release Details Announced

Over 27,000 Steam reviews in the category “Very positive” indicate that players are enjoying The Outlast Trials. You can listen to the soundtrack of the Outlast Trials on Spotify, Apple Music and other streaming services starting this week. 

The Outlast Trials Soundtrack will also be streaming on the 25th of October, just in time to celebrate Halloween. Red Barrels, the developer, has also revealed a limited vinyl edition of the music from the game in partnership with Laced Records. Starting October 25, preorders will go live at Laced Records for a limited edition “Bloodshed Red” double LP vinyl release of The Outlast Trials. The standard edition features traditional black LPs and will be available at third-party retailers. Tom Salta, composer of Deathloop and PUBG as well as Halo, is responsible for the soundtrack to Outlast Trials. Red Barrels reports that Salta combined orchestral compositions with dark synthetic and organic textures to compose the score for the game. 

“Salta’s incorporation of unnerving diegetic music – spanning eerie pastiches of mid-century styles – creates an unsettling contrast that deepens the overall experience of the score,” a press release reads. The Outlast Trials score is an eerie journey into the essence of terror and despair. 

Salta has checked off another item on his bucket list by scoring The Outlast Trials: creating a scary score. 

“I was fascinated by scary things since the age of eight, when I would build haunted house out chairs and blankets to let my parents crawl through,” says he. The love for scary things continued well into his adult life. Every Halloween I created a walking haunted-house with lights, props and, of course, music.

The Outlast Trials score was created with the goal of using music as a way to submerge people into a horrifying emotional experience, which would support all of the horrific experiences that players might encounter. Francis Brus’s vision, encouragement, and guidance allowed me to explore all possibilities and create a musical tapestry and signature theme that players will remember for many years. 

Francis Brus is the Outlast Trials Audio Director. He says Salta’s soundtrack was an important and memorable part of Outlast Trials’ horror experience. The soundtrack is said to deliver a “sonic journey that heightens each emotion from the spine-tingling suspense of fear, to the heart-pounding tension.” 

Listen to the score above before the full soundtrack is released on Wednesday, 25th October. Preorders for the vinyl edition are available now.
