Malaysian tabletop game developers raise funds for flood relief

After the devastating floods in Malaysia, indie game designers in Malaysia are raising money for relief. More than 40,000 people have been displaced and at least eight have died in Malaysia’s “worst flooding in years,” The Guardian reports.

On itch.io, eleven tabletop game developers donated their games for the Malaysia Flood Relief 2021 Bundle. There were 25 different games, including an ingenious card game called Royal RumbleECH0 is an interactive storytelling game that allows you to draw maps. There are many other fun and thought-provoking games. You can unlock up to 15 games for as little as $45, or 10 games with a $15 donation.

For two days more, the Malaysia Flood Relief 2021 Bundle has been active. This Bundle has raised over $10,000, surpassing its original goal at $1,000.’s Flood Relief fund.

“From previous years’ experience, [the flooding] isn’t just a one-off issue,” Malaysia Flood Relief 2021 Bundle organizers wrote on itch.io. “Due to the impacts of climate change and other factors like poor infrastructure upkeep and deforestation, the impact of seasonal rains and floods in Malaysia has been exacerbated in recent years.

“Even as we are raising funds for immediate needs, we also urge people who are not able to support our efforts monetarily to do what you can to support efforts to fight climate change and ecological exploitation that leads to these severe weather events.”
