Magic: The Gathering Arena Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty | GI Live

Sometimes, Magic: The Gathering sets break down multiple barriers that you didn’t think were possible. Kamigawa’s Neon Dynasty is one such set. Wizards of the Coast brought us back to the plane that is often misunderstood but adored by fans. We’re also seeing it 1200 years later than when we last visited Kamigawa. Magic is introducing a new Kamigawa version, which includes a lot of neon lights and mechs. This allows Magic to combine the familiar sights like samurai and ninjas with transforming equipment.
John Carson and Dan Tack, GI editors, join us on the Game InformerWatch this video on Twitch at 2:05 p.m. Central, as they discuss the newly released Magic: The Gathering Arena set.
Magic: The Gathering Arena, a digital client of the well-known trading card game Wizards of the Coast is Magic: The Gathering Arena. In 2004 and 2005, the original Kamigawa set of sets were released. It introduced an exciting plane with mysticism and unfaltering warriors as well as sneaky ninjas and a variety of legendary creatures. Although the world was interesting and the characters’ designs were appealing, Kamigawa’s mechanicals such as confusing flip cards, Sweep, and Splice onto Arcane were not. This caused WoTC to drop the plane almost 20 years ago.
Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty, which we returned to the set after a long absence, introduces cyberpunk elements. It also brings back the same mechanics players love from the first set such as “Channel”, and “Ninjutsu.” You don’t need to know any of this, but you should check out the stream today. We’ll be creating the set and possibly crafting decks for Standard.
You can find more information about Kamigawa, Neon Dynasty in our preview card Risona and Asari Commander as well as our breakdown of the mechanics.
