Magic: The Gathering 30th Anniversary includes 60 random cards for $999
Magic: The Gathering 30th Anniversary Edition is a new product created by Wizards of the Coast in order to celebrate the card game’s original launch in 1993. Each box will only contain four 15-card packs. Each card will feature a different card back and is not tournament-legal.

Online sales will begin Nov. 28 and North American consumers should receive their products by the end of 2013. A post was made on the official website. Magic Website, this set will represent the entire 30-year history by releasing the oldest cards from the game in an extremely collectible format. Wizards hopes to evoke the same excitement as opening a pack from either the Alpha or Beta sets. That includes the potential to find multiple cards from the Power Nine — including a remake of the iconic Black Lotus.
Cards will feature “touched up” art where needed, and will exclude some cards.
“We wanted to be nostalgic,” Wizards said on its blog, “but not everything met our modern standards.” For instance, Crusade — which was removed from the Magic archives in 2020 along with several other cards — will be absent from this set. All cards that include Contract from Below (Darkpact, Demonic Attorney), Earthbind, Weakness, and Contract From Below) have been removed.

Each display 30th anniversary editionFour packs will be filled with pure nostalgia, but in a contemporary context. Each pack contains 15 cards, 13 cards in the modern frame — 1 rare, 3 uncommons, 7 commons, and 2 basic lands — plus one basic land in the retro frame, one additional retro frame card, and a token.
Local game shops will be also able to participate. Each Wizards Play Network store will be given one copy. Magic: The Gathering 30th Anniversary Edition Three Premium WPN outlets will get three for display purposes.
