Lollipop Chainsaw Remake Will Be ‘As Close As Possible To A Remaster’

Suda51 is the brain behind cult-classic hits like Killer 7 and Lollipop Chainsaw. He also runs Grasshopper Manufacture as a development studio. Lollipop Chainsaw’s hack-and-slash game is getting mixed reviews. However, a remake of the title is on the horizon. Yoshimi Yosuda of Dragami Games took to Twitter today informing his avid fans it would “be as similar as possible to an original.” Check out the post.

Yasuda talked about both the original goal and the future changes during his statement.

“The primary goal of the Lollipop Chainsaw Remake project is to make it so that players who wish to play Lollipop Chainsaw can do so easily, not to make a new Lollipop Chainsaw game…we were unfortunately unable to include 16 of the licensed songs, which were a great part of the original game’s feel, and so we are instead aiming for a remake that is as close as possible to a remaster. The aesthetics of Lollipop Chainsaw are not being altered.

Lollipop Chainsaw, the original Lollipop Chainsaw, was first released in 2012. The story was about Juliet (high school cheerleader) and her survival in a zombie-apocalypse that occurred in California. You can assume Juliet wore a flesh-shredding, chainsaw if you haven’t played the game. Suda51 (and James Gunn)Suicide Squad Guardians of the GalaxyThe adventure was a bloody, gory and brutal collaboration between Joe Juba (and ). Joe Juba reviewed Lollipop Chainsaw, concluding his review with the following:

After finishing Lollipop Chainsaw I felt the same as I did after I played other Suda 51 titles. Although the concept is innovative and exciting, it has too many flaws in execution to be fully accepted, much like No More Heroes or Killer 7. Like those games, however, Lollipop Chainsaw was a great game.
