Like customizing Xbox controllers? Check out these custom DM screens

You like to customize your Xbox controller. You spend hours building miniatures in HeroForge. Imagine if your Dungeon Master screen could be used to do something like that. Dog Might Games’ Infinity Screen gives you this opportunity.

Let’s go through the basics first. These screens come as three separate panels — a substantial 20 inch by 9 inch center panel flanked by two 11.75 inch by 9 inch side panels. The panels are made of cleverly stacked 5/8-inch thick kiln dried hardwood and designed to prevent warping.

You have a lot more freedom when setting up the panels. They connect using a magnetic rod. The back of the screen has 22 magnets that allow you to attach tables or other information. Alternately, you can opt to use Dog Might’s own line of Valhalla Screen accessories, which include items like a dice tower and a phone stand. A groove is cut across the top of this panel to track initiative.

All of that makes for a solid enough DM screen, but doesn’t quite justify a price tag that starts at $595. We must look at the Infinity Screen’s player-facing side.

Laser engraving designs are applied to every surface of the exterior. You can also customize it. It is nine inches high, and the centerpiece of this screen is an enormous piece of art. There are 10 different centerpiece designs covering lots of TTRPG staples like a demon, a lich, or a Cthulhu-like beast, and you’ll be able to choose one of nine different frames to go around it.

There are 10 background scenes to the sides of the panel, which extend onto the panels. These include a tavern, townscape or battlefield. The game masters are able to use a variety of backgrounds on one or both sides to help foreshadow their campaign. You have more options than just side panels. Additional symbols such as tomes and a band of Kobolds can be added on both the left or right sides. They also come with their own frames.

Their website allows you to browse a variety of options including many different color choices. Dog Might tells Polygon via email that the vibrant stain is achieved via “a mix of water and alcohol-based stains and inks” followed by an “enamel inlay [applied] by hand for the rich dark line work.” You can get flat colors with no blending — kind of like a comic book — or you can pay for a more “artistic” version that gives the artists at Dog Might a little more freedom to blend and shade the design as they go.

This screen will be a great way to show your gamers that you are serious about business.
