Let’s Play hidden movement game Last Friday on Overboard

Night has fallen at Camp Overboard, and we’ve lit the camp fire. Come gather round for a spooky tale of Camp Overboard’s LAST FRIDAY (imagine a wolf howling and some other scary forest noises).

In this episode, we’re playing the hidden movement game Last Friday. This genre of board games, which includes Scotland Yard and Letters from Whitechapel, pits a group of players against a cunning villain who’s capable of moving across a vast game board (mostly) undetected.

The inspiration for last Friday was classic horror movies such as Friday 13thThe story takes place at haunted summer camps. The game is played across four chapters, with the campers aiming to survive the villain’s killing sprees at night, while the serial killer aims to kill all the campers and then flee before daybreak.

While the manic moves between number spots, the board is covered with white dots.

You will find trails running across the board that merge and intersect. There are white spots for players to cross and numbers for serial killers to use. It allows the criminal to travel faster than the others and even jumpfrog them, thereby committing murder. The maniac keeps track of the number of them that move on paper behind a screen to keep tabs.

They may not see Jason-alike Jason coming because they only report their movements every three turns to the killer. During the chapters that take place at night, the villain doesn’t even report their current location, but their position three turns previous. You might not realize that the villain is near until it’s too late.

But the campers aren’t defenseless. A clue token is dropped by the serial killer whenever they disclose their location. It can be claimed either directly or in later chapters that are less risky. These clue tokens give players tools like lanterns, which can reveal the villain in certain locations, or a bear trap, which can temporarily block off the serial killer’s route.

The predestined will reveal one camper as their final enemy, if the other campers hold onto the line long enough. Check out our Let’s Play to find out who survives the night, and who will remain at Camp Overboard… forever!
