Lenny Kravitz wore his meme-famous oversized scarf in debut TikTok

It’s officially fall. Why do I know that? Well, it’s time for the meme of Lenny Kravitz in an enormous, blanket-sized scarf to re-emerge. This time it was a little different: the actor/musician played along with this scarf meme on his first TikTok video, uploaded at the weekend.

“Grab your big scarf, it’s the first day of fall,” Kravtiz says, walking towards the camera, wearing the infamous scarf.

It took a decade to create this moment. A paparazzi snapped a picture of Kravitz wearing a giant scarf on a day of fate in November 2012. The scarf has a captivating effect. It’s a Kravitz cocoon, if you will.

The Redditors loved it immediately and began photoshopping to make the scarf even larger. Redditors have even dressed up as Kravtiz’s fall clothing or knitted scarves similar to the original image.

Jimmy Fallon, in an episode that aired more than five years after the incident, asked Kravitz, about her scarf. The Tonight Show. This catapulted memes into the limelight. “I cannot escape this, brother,” Kravitz said to Fallon. “I live in the Bahamas, I’m used to hot weather, and — you see I had to go to the store. Right, I was shopping for groceries. And I thought I’d put on a little scarf to protect my throat, and that’s the scarf I had.”

“But Lenny, this is not a scarf. This is a blanket,” Fallon responds (correctly.) Kravitz then goes on to verify that that image is, indeed, the scarf, but that “the scarf keeps getting bigger and bigger” thanks to people on the internet.

Another five years later, and the scarf is back on our timelines — this time, thanks to Kravtiz himself. Enjoy the fall.
