Legend of Zelda’s Zonai theories are back after new TOTK trailer
The Floria River winds gently around the Faron Grasslands. This is a narrow chasm you must cross before getting to the Zonai Ruins. These ruins can be found in dense forest, with monoliths from the Zonai that still remain despite centuries of time. These ruins may be older than Hyrule.
The majority The Legend of Zelda: A Breath of Wild players, it’s nothing more than a piece of land on Hyrule’s massive map, with some structures, mysterious runes, and a few questlines. It could also be something you have picked up. The Wild Breath’s Barbarian Armor in Faron — the item description nods once more to the “ancient warlike tribe” that lived in this area — and moved on.
But there’s a group of Zelda theorists expecting the Zonai to play a bigger part in the upcoming Tears of the Kingdom: Zelda’s Legend. And they’ve finally got their undeniable proof.
Zelda lovers have been fascinated by the Zonai Ruins’ mystery and the separate prehistoric tribe that lived in this region, apart from Sheikah for many years. Twitter and Reddit were overwhelmed by analysis and YouTube creators are often prompted to share the theories with Nintendo. Some think the Zonai have something to do with the Triforce and its gods. They are believed to be connected to power, wisdom, courage, and intelligence. There’s a potential theory that’s hinted at in The Legend of Zelda – Twilight Princess, too, another game that’s been theorized to be connected to Tears for the Kingdom. Personally, I think the Zonai Charge might be connected to those little green vials that hang from Link’s belt — maybe they even power some of his new abilities. The Construct was shown on the sky islands specifically, and perhaps there’s a connection there.
Or maybe these aren’t even important details at all, and Nintendo’s thrown us a red herring. Tears for the Kingdom’s release date is May 12, so we’ve got just over a month to stew on it.
