League of Legends’ Star Guardians event is a breath of fresh air
League of Legends’ events and alternate universes range from grim, far-future cyberpunk dystopias to a world full of witches, old gods, and solar knights. But this summer, I’ve been surprised at how much I’m enjoying the Star Guardians event. Star Guardian, an alternate universe in which a few familiar cast members live double lives as magic girls and is loved by fans.
Star Guardians, while a corporate product, is not the main goal. On the other hand, the world is burning down, everything is terrible, and it’s genuinely really nice to see a bunch of people just enjoying pretty anime costumes and music videos on the timeline. Fandom is consuming screenshots, skin art, and enjoying the magical girls content.
While there’s ton of official content to pore over and dissect, fans are also drawing their favorite Guardians or imagining new additions to the universe. How would it be if Star Nemesis were to become Star Guardian enemies or join the Star Guardian line-up? What’s it like when these characters hang out?
There’s still plenty of time for fans to have evolving feelings about the event, which will play out over 10 weeks. Both the PC and Mac versions will be able to participate in visual novels-style campaigns. League of LegendsMobile adaptation Wild Rift. While we don’t know how the story ends, exactly, there’s a lot of stuff to dig into already, and players are enjoying the journey as much as they anticipate the destination.
It’s nice to see a generally positive reaction to an event. Riot’s developers have gotten involved to offer some extras and insight behind the scenes on new skins.
We almost always use Q with W. This is why I created interaction between the abilities. It reflects the “Q” projectile that is flying above it in its dark pond pic.twitter.com/usNPWmYkvV

A very early concept of a direction lock for Taliyah! My goal was for Taliyah’s pinks not to look like other Pink Guardians. This is a baby Guardian that could grow into a leading leader. I wanted her Gem to resemble Rose Quartz, stone of self love & understanding pic.twitter.com/Dbgjaqe01a

Although events such as The Sentinels of Light had been considered serious, important, and involved a lot of mainline lore at the time, Star Guardian’s universe is a bit more approachable. Riot Games leaves plenty of room for fans to add in their stories and thoughts about the struggles of magical girls. It’s been an absolutely terrible year, and so it’s nice to have something bright on my social media feed. The Star Guardians events have been an absolute delight so far.
