Konami Announces Silent Hill 2 Remake, Silent Hill F, A New Movie, And More
Konami today shared Silent Hill announcements as part of Silent Hill Transmission. These were both confirmations of long-standing rumors as well as helping to put some others to sleep.
The biggest announcement from the presentation was that Bloober Team (the developer of The Medium and other horror-themed games) is making Silent Hill 2. A trailer showed footage from the original game, with brand new graphics. Silent Hill 2 will soon be available on PC through Steam. It will also be exclusive to the PlayStation 5 console for at least one year.
Konami then followed up Silent Hill Townfall with a brand new game by No Code (the creators of Stories Untold and Observation). While the teaser was not very detailed, the message is clear that Silent Hill will get something special.
Christophe Gans is the director of Silent Hill 2, and he will be returning to make Return to Silent Hill. Gans was on hand to discuss how the movie would be an adaptation for Silent Hill 2 during the presentation. Gans had some concept art that Gans could share, although filming and casting remain in progress.
Konami also shared new Silent Hill merchandise. A high-end statue featuring characters such as Mario and James Sunderland from Silent Hill 2 was shown. Also, a statue depicting the noncanon ending to Silent Hill2 in which James discovers that all of his actions are being managed by a dog were displayed. Also, soon will be available a plush for the mastermind dog.
Silent Hill Aension is another Silent Hill game. Its tagline reads, “Face your Trauma together.” Many development partners were involved in the multiplayer game, such as Dead by Daylight creators Behaviour Interactive as well as J.J. Abrams of Bad Robot Games. Although little was revealed or shared, it seems that the multiplayer game will feature a story-driven narrative.
Finale, the presentation concluded with a trailer of Silent Hill f, a mainline Silent Hill title. It featured a trailer that showed a young lady walking through a Japanese village, dragging a pipe on the ground, similar to Pyramid Head, and finally being eaten by flowers. The release date and the type of the game are still unknown.
