John Carpenter game Toxic Commando announced at Summer Game Fest

John Carpenter: A few interesting facts you might not have known about the director of horror films (Halloween, The Thing) is that he’s also a gamer. It’s not uncommon to see Carpenter tweet out thoughts about a recent game he’s been enjoying, but now he is putting his name on an upcoming co-op first-person shooter called John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando PlayStation 5, Windows PC and Xbox Series X.

John Carpenter’s Toxic CommandoThe game is the result of a partnership between Focus Entertainment and Saber Interactive, (the developers behind World War Z AftermathCarpenter, himself. As Carpenter himself said in a news release, “Look, I really like shooting zombies. They keep telling me that they’re called ‘the infected.’ Please. They’re ghouls, dude. The ghouls are really explosive and there’s a lot of them. People are going to love this game.”

Toxic CommandoGames pit the titular Commandos against hordes mutant monsters during a supernatural epidemic. Toxic CommandoThis game is set in an evil world where a grimy eldritch Sludge God rules, filling it with filth and zombies. To clean up this mess, instead of using soap or suds, players will be using guns, trucks and katanas.

The trailer for the Summer Game Fest was revealed live. It shows commandos singing Bon Jovi while they blasted some bad guys. The trailer shows that players will need to maneuver these huge, The Left 4 DeadBoth on foot and in vehicles with heavy armor, you can fight the same way. The game also appears to have special monster mutants, which will require different strategies.
