HyperX launches new Cloud 3 wired gaming headset

HyperX has announced the Cloud 3, a brand new version of their flagship Cloud gaming headset. It is available for both PCs and consoles. It’s available starting Tuesday for $99.99. While its design doesn’t seems to have evolved much from the previous version that launched 2015 and quickly became the gold standard, the company says that the Cloud 3 boasts several improvements.

The 53mm audio driver has been reengineered for improved performance and the adjustable boom mic supports noise cancellation. It also has an integrated metal pop filter that prevents unwanted noises from coming through. HyperX attributes the improved fit to new materials. This package also comes with a lifetime activation for DTS Headphone:X software on PC, which allows 3D audio to create a more immersive experience.

How it connects to devices is one change that’s been welcomed. Cloud 3 connects to devices more easily via USB C, USB A, and the 3.5 mm headphone jack. This flexibility allows you to connect easily with most portable or console devices.

While the headset’s launch is exciting, a new iteration of HyperX’s flagship Cloud headset hitting shelves usually means that there are several tweaks of the formula to come. HyperX usually releases the wireless model after the new wired version, and then follows up by releasing console headsets at lower cost. However, it’s possible that its release plans may be a tad different for the Cloud 3, since it’s now under the ownership of HP.
