How the Brand-new Newfound Courage Remake Uses Combat to Tell a Story

We are currently discussing the imminent launch of Newfound CourageXbox. It is an entirely new remake that features music and art as well as story content and mechanics. This version of the game will immerse you in Alex and Jake’s story like never before.
Launching is what we were aiming for. Newfound CourageWe decided to look at the current game on Xbox. The feedback we’ve received is great; people love the music, story and art. Our players demand more. Our game was redesigned for Xbox.
Visual art has always been a weakness in our opinion. It was too generic and static. The environmental art was improved to about 100%. All characters were revised and in certain cases completely redesigned. We have improved the dynamic lighting and wind effects. It feels more live and animated.
The story was later rethought. While this was most definitely the strength of the game’s story, again we felt we could have done better. There are new mechanics, especially combat. We created a simple, streamlined combat and progression system so we could go even bigger with our fantasy story—and it worked. All about Newfound Courage is grander, the stakes are higher, and battling the ‘big bad’ to the death offers more satisfaction.
The next paragraph includes spoilers, so please skip it if you haven’t played the game yet. You will find the final paragraph of Newfound Courage, Alex doesn’t receive his happily-ever-after; his love is unrequited. Now, that hasn’t changed. But, Alex still deserves to be loved. It was the perfect time to announce Return to Otherwhere as a DLC.
The story follows Alex as he returns home and faces his demons, literally. He fights for truth to his hometown. A fresh cast of unique characters, otherworldly sceneries and a deep delve into Alex’s past grants the overall game a new edge. The remake also includes six brand new songs, one of which is a creepy carnival tune.
We can’t wait to see what you think, the builds you create, and the boyfriend you ultimately choose. Newfound Courage Xbox officially launches June 24, 2010.
