Horror-comedy Renfield gets a Vampire Survivors-like video game tie-in

Renfield: You can bring your own bloodThe official launch of, which was available in early access starting Wednesday, seems to be a direct lift. Vampire Survivors’ format, including the fact that vampires themselves are not among the enemy hordes in either game. Players will be running around New Orleans in Renfield’s role, searching for their boss. They may also encounter bosses or gangs that want to take you from the Crescent City.

Developer Mega Cat Studios says it has no plans to increase the game’s price after its early access period. DLC that is available after launch may come at a premium or be included in the bundle for a price of more than $4.99.

Our reviewer didn’t dig Renfield, which chokes its gags in cynicism and choppy editing; maybe it’s better as a video game. Based on the story of Robert Kirkman (whom fans know as co-creator) The Walking Dead and the founder of Skybound Entertainment — which is also publishing Renfield: You can bring your own blood. Ryan Ridley, Chris McKay, and Universal Pictures distributed the film.
