Horizon Zero Dawn Remake/Remaster And Horizon Multiplayer Game Reportedly In Development

A remake or remaster of 2017’s Horizon Zero Dawn is reportedly in the works alongside a new Horizon multiplayer game. 

It is a good news story. MP1st, which reports that its sources tell the publication that this remake/remaster will feature an improved lighting system, overhauled textures, better animations, and character models more in line with those of Horizon Forbidden West, Zero Dawn’s sequel that released back in February. However, MP1ST notes that its sources didn’t say whether this was a “built from the ground up” remake or a remaster – it might fall somewhere in between for all we know. 

According to MP1st, Project’s main focus (ha) will be bringing Forbidden West’s accessibility features to Zero Dawn. Sony has done this with Part II and Part I. The publication claims that the gameplay modifications will mostly be quality-of-life enhancements. The magazine also stated that the scale of this remake or remaster is unknown. It will only be time. 

A Zero Dawn remake/remaster is being discussed. MP1stAccording to other sources, it claims that a PlayStation Team, possibly Guerrilla Games is creating an online multiplayer game in Horizon’s world for PlayStation 5 or PC. MP1stTwo sources were able verify the project. A third source said that there may be “a type of co-op” in the game. The publication states that they have not been able verify this or whether online game functionality will include PvP or co-op. 

Take all this information with a grain, but it appears that Sony will place even greater bets on Horizon’s success. Given The Last of Us Part I’s timing and how close it was released to the upcoming The Last of Us TV show on HBO, I wouldn’t be surprised if this potential Zero Dawn remake/remaster is released around the same time as Netflix’s upcoming Horizon TV show.
