Multiplayer

Both! You can play the game online or locally. Local co-op lets up to 8 people play simultaneously on the same screen. Additional input devices can be connected. You can invite your friends to online multiplayer by using the game screen. Online multiplayer requires that each participant has a copy the game as well as an Xbox Live subscription.

How can I host a multiplayer gaming session?

Select “Play with Friends,” create a new profile, and the lobby set-up screen will pop up. Select “Go Online,” “Invite Friends,” and then choose who from your friends list you would like to invite to play. Press “B” or “Go Back” to return to the lobby set-up screen. Any local users can be added via any other input device (e.g. The Companion App and Controllers. When all Online Friends have selected “Ready,” the host can start the session.

Do you Dusk FallsOnline matchmaking possible?

It doesn’t. You’re able to invite your friends to play or connect additional input devices to have friends join locally.

In this story-based crime drama, how does co-op function?

Throughout the story, you’ll be tasked with making decisions that impact the outcome of the storyline. All players share the same point of view but will individually vote for what decision they’d like to see play out. Each vote is equally weighted and the winner gets the decision. However, you might not always win. The override options are few and tied votes will produce a randomly selected outcome.

What does it take to make overrides happen?

You can decide how many overrides you want, so each player has a set number. The decision that a player votes for automatically becomes the winner if they override it. If another player believes that the right way is best, they may also override. You should be careful about your overrides, and you must not forget to discuss your side with friends when they override.

Does multiplayer work across platforms?

Dusk FallsIt is now available on Xbox Series X|S and PC with Xbox Game Pass, PC Game Pass, Windows, and Steam, and on Xbox One and supported mobile phones, tablets, and lower-spec PCs via Xbox Cloud Gaming. For the game to be played, you will need a copy. But your friends may join you on any platform.

What if I want to play it by myself?

Absolutely! While we think the game is fun when played with friends, it’s fun to play solo as well. In a solo playthrough you’ll have total control over the decisions made and where the story goes.

Streaming

I’m a streamer, are there unique features that would benefit me?

There is an option to broadcast your Twitch chat in game. You can allow chat members to vote on options and take part in the story.

What is Broadcast Mode?

When launching the game, select “Broadcast Mode”. You will need to enter the name of your Twitch Channel. This only applies for existing Twitch accounts. You should receive a message that you’ve successfully connected to your channel.

Once the game begins, viewers will have the ability to vote on outcomes via the stream’s chat window. Every choice will be marked with a unique hashtag/number (#3, #4, etc). The Twitch chat panel allows players to enter their chosen number. Your viewer’s screen names appear briefly on the screen as votes are added. The winner is the one with most votes.

You still have the ability to control your viewers’ behavior as the streamer. You’re also required to handle all quick time events (QTEs).

What is the best way to invite my friends to join me in co-op?

The game doesn’t support simultaneous play of both mode. Your friends may join the vote by entering their votes in chat.

Companion App for As Dusk Falls

Is it possible?

The Dusk FallsCompanion App, an iOS and Android app that is free to download, can be found on Android or iOS. This app allows you to manage actions in the game. It does not broadcast the game to your phone, it acts as an input device – like a controller or mouse and keyboard. Your Android phone’s operating system must be running version 4.4 (Kitkat). iOS phones require OS 12.0 or higher.

What is the Companion App and how do I use it?

Install the software Dusk FallsCompanion App. Verify that the Companion app runs on the same Wi Fi network as your game.

Choose or create a saved gaming profile before you begin a game. Next, choose “Change Input Device.” This leads to a screen with a short code. Then enter the code. Dusk FallsController app allows you to control the cursor of your game!

Do all those who join local co-ops using their phones need to have a copy? Dusk Falls?

No. To start a lobby you will need a copy of the game. However, up to seven additional phones are possible to connect to the local co-op network without the need for additional copies.

Accessibility

Is there any accessibility feature in Dusk Falls?

Absolutely. Absolutely. Dusk Falls. Our Accessibility features can be found under the Settings menu on the game’s main screen or the game’s pause menu. These accessibility features are: 

Text To Speech Settings

• Menu Narration – Enables menu UI to be read aloud by the screen reader.
• Narration for a game – Enables in-game UI and important gameplay elements to be read aloud by the screen reader.
• Text to Speech – Enables chat text from other players to be read aloud.
• Voice to Text – Transcribes audio chat between players. 

On-Screen User Interface 

• Flatten Choice UI – Enabling this will remove the slightly angled appearance of interactive choices, making them appear flat on screen.
• Use the Lower Case – Sets UI text for hotspots and action choices to being lower case only.
• Chosen Color – Sets the text and background colors of on-screen choices and hotspot UI. White text with a black background is the default.
• The Options Background – Allows the player to set the background transparency of in-game UI. Partial transparency is default. 

Gameplay Adaptations 

• Types of hotspot display – Allows the player to have all the hotspots to stay on screen after being discovered, or to have them all appear from the beginning of the scene.
• You can take quick action – Allows the player to remove mashing interactions, or to set all interactions to require a single button tap. 
• Extended QTE timer – All Quick Time Events (QTE) have 10 second timer to finish. The Mash will take longer to complete the same amount as the Mash.
• Timer for Choice – Allows the player to disable timers in all choice scenes and Timed Hotspots.
• Timer for Extended Override – Extends the override timer from 10 seconds to 20 seconds.
• Broadcast Mode Timer –This allows the player to adjust the timer duration when using Broadcast Mode. 

Other Settings 

Within the game’s broader set of options players can adjust other elements to improve their experience. 

• Subtitles – Allows the player to enable subtitles during the game. 
• Closed Captions – Allows the player to enable text descriptions for in-game sound effects and non-spoken audio. 
• Subtitles Size – Adjusts the size of on-screen subtitles. 
• Subtitle Background – Allows the player to set the transparency of subtitle background. Partial transparency is default. 
• Subtitle Color – Allows the player to set the text color and background color of subtitles simultaneously. White text with a black background is the default. 
• Cursor Sensitivity – Allows the player to change the sensitivity of the current profile’s cursor. 
• Cursor size – Allows the player to change the size of the cursor. 
• Controller Remapping – Allows the player to remap gameplay inputs on their controller to suit their preferences. The action structure for input customization is: Choose/Basic Quick Action. Cancel Selection. Override. Quick Action. 
• Mouse & Keyboard Remapping – Allows the player to remap gameplay inputs on their mouse and keyboard to suit their preferences. The action that allows input customization (e.g. Choose/Basic Quick Action. Cancel Selection. Override. Quick Action.
