Halo Master Chief Collection Gets Halo 3 Cross-Platform Co-Op And New Floodfight Mode In ODST

Update for Halo 3: Master Chief Collection now online. This update includes bug fixes and enhancements to improve the experience. More exciting is however the inclusion of Halo 3: ODSST firefight variants like Floodfight. These pit you against Flood enemies and Halo 3 Cross-Platform Co-op. 

This update, which clocks in at 22 gigabytes for Xbox consoles is the largest in recent memory by MCC. It comes as 343 Industries continues to focus its attention on Halo Infinite, the latest Halo title. Here’s what’s in Update 1.2819.0.0: 

Halo 3: ODST Firefight

• Firefight sessions can be set up in many different settings. Added scenario settings include hazards and friendly “Boons” such as additional weapons being available on the map and allies delivered via Insertion Pods.
• The update includes Elites in New Mombasa and a Firefight variant. Floodfight.
  • You can add Elites or Flood enemies to any Halo 3: ODST Firefight variants using the Wave Properties settings.
  • Flood waves may be joined by fog. This will change the atmosphere on old maps. It is possible that allies and those who have been lost due to Flood might return to attack players.
  • The new scenarios also include flood-themed hazards. Flood Dispersal Pods are Flood Stalkers and Flood-controlled Vehicles are some examples.

Halo 3 Cross-Platform Co-op (Experimental)

• Online multiplayer is now possible for both Xbox and PC players. 
• Although this feature is being tested internally, the team needs to hear from players who have different networks. Send Bug Report tickets to report any bugs in-game. Also, share your thoughts on the feature in Halo Waypoint forums.

Modifications to the Custom Game Browser

• All titles from the Master Chief Collection can now be used in Custom Game Browser sessions, in addition to several menu enhancements.
• A “Quick Match” option has been added to the Custom Game Browser menu. This option allows players to choose a Filter and enter the match without having to browse all available sessions.

Halo 4 Campaign Customization

• Enable the Campaign Customization option when starting Halo 4 missions to view equipped weapon skins in game. 

Neue Skulls

• The Acrophobia Skull has been added to Halo 2: Anniversary’s campaign. 
• Halo 3 now has sixteen new skulls.
