Gran Turismo 7’s Online Modes Still Unplayable More Than 24 Hours Later After Latest Update

Ahhh the age of always-online games strikes again – this time, with Gran Turismo 7. 

Gran Turismo 7 is an always-online game, meaning if you can’t connect to the internet, you basically can’t play the game, save for a few modes like Music Rally and single-player races against AI. It’s unfortunate but it’s a decision Polyphony Digital decided to make with the latest Gran Turismo installment nonetheless (they did the same with GT Sport, too). Unfortunately, the most recent update to the game Version 1.07 is putting a bad light on this decision. It has rendered the game unplayable for 24 hours, and it now requires the user to restart the computer. That’s another way of saying this game you spent money on is a game you can’t actually play in full at the moment. 

Gran Turismo 7 became unavailable on March 17. It was reported that it would only go down for a few hours. VG247. But, it took a few hours to make it a dozen and here we are, one full day later. Most of Gran Turismo 7’s modes still can’t be played as they remains offline.  

You can still play Music Rally and single-player races against AI. World Circuits is also available offline. However, Gran Turismo 7’s biggest draw is its ability to race with other players. That’s not possible in-game at the moment as its online functionlatiy remains offline. To top it all, Video Games ChronicleGran Turismo 7 has been updated to make it more difficult, reports say. 

That’s because courses that players used to grind and farm in-game credits to purchase cars significantly more expensive in 7 than they were in Sport now dole out less credits. 

We’ll be sure to update this story when Gran Turismo 7’s online functionality is restored.
