Gran Turismo 7 Gets 4-Player Split-Screen For PS5, 7 New Cars, And More In Free Update

Gran Turismo 7 is getting its biggest update tomorrow in the form of Spec II (a.k.a update 1.40). Free content drops include a new cooperative game mode, new cars, new tracks, etc.
Perhaps the update’s biggest addition is four-player local split-screen. This option is not available to PS4 users. Speaking of PS5-only features, those players can enjoy taking on Gran Turismo Sophy, which developer Polyphony Digital describes as a “prototype revolutionary racing AI agent”
Spec II also adds the snowy Lake Louise track. The game is set at a Canadian ski resort. There are three versions: the long track (long track), short track (short track), and tri-oval. Updates will include new Master License Events and quality of life improvements, including a dashboard to track progress.
Here are seven new cars joining the lineup:
- Dodge Charger R/T 426 Hemi ’68
- Dodge Challenger SRT Demon ’18
- Lexus LFA ’10
- Mercedes-Benz 190 E 2.5-16 Evolution II ’91
- NISMO – 400R (’95)
- Porsche 911 GT3 RS (992) ’22
- Tesla Model 3 Performance ’23
The Gran Turismo blog has a full breakdown of the Spec II additions. The update will be available on Tuesday, November 2. Check out our Gran Turismo 7 review for more information.
