Ghostwire: Tokyo Launches On Xbox Next Month With New ‘Spider’s Thread’ Update

Bethesda Softworks, Tango Gameworks, and Tango Gameworks announced that Ghostwire: Tokyo will be coming to Xbox next month, a PlayStation 5 exclusive. It will also launch on Xbox with an updated content update for all players.

Ghostwire: Tokyo will be available on Xbox Series X/S starting April 12, along with the “Spider’s Thread”, update. This will be also live on all other platforms where it is possible to play the game. The update includes the Spider’s Thread new game mode for Ghostwire: Tokyo, as well as additional story cutscenes and quality-of-life improvements, as well as new enemies and new skills.

According to a press release, “The Spider’s Thread” game mode challenges players to traverse a series of 30 stages from more than 120 level designs. It has one goal: to reach the end. Players will gain more skills by clearing challenges and completing stages. They can also earn in-game currency which they can use to upgrade their equipment.

“The Spider’s Thread update brings new destinations to the streets of ghostly Tokyo. It also includes the Middle School. New missions are available for the players as they explore more mysteries. Extended cutscenes will be added to the main story, giving players a better understanding of the plot and allowing them to follow Akito’s adventures with KK in order stop Hannya’s plan to destroy Tokyo.

The press release states that new enemies include the unseen Silent Gaze, and the mysterious Retribution. Akito will get new skills, including Counter Attack and Charge Rush to help defeat them.

Ghostwire Tokyo launches Xbox Series X/S on April 12, Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass. For PlayStation 2, Xbox One, and Computer players, the Spider’s Thread update arrives on April 12.

Read this while you are waiting for the updated Game Informer Ghostwire: Tokyo review and then check out this story about how Tango Gameworks is working on a “completely new title that is the complete opposite of horror.” It could be Hi-Fi Rush, Tango Gameworks’ surprise February release (read our review here), or it might be something else.

It doesn’t matter what the future holds, but don’t be surprised if Shinji Miami, creator of Resident Evil as well as the Evil Within series by Tango Gameworks, is still in the position of director. Last month, he announced that he would no longer be with the company.

Is Ghostwire Tokyo the place you are going to be next month? We’d love to hear from you in the comments!
