Genshin Impact’s big 3.0 Sumeru update, explained

Genshin ImpactThis is an open-world adventure that keeps growing in size. With the 3.0 Sumeru update looming, the game’s size and scope will only continue to grow. Developer Hoyoverse will add a new region for the protagonist, colloquially known as the “Traveler,” and our floating companion Paimon, to visit, along with new characters and quests.

Hoyoverse have released many patches during the past year. However, this update 3.0 will be the most significant since the 2.0 Inazuma launch last summer. Now that players have wrapped up their stint in the Japanese-inspired region of Inazuma, and have explored the deep dark gooey depths of The Chasm, it’s time to move onto the next big challenge. Here’s why the 3.0 update matters so much, and what we know about it so far.

Sumeru will soon be the focus of players.

A teaser that was shown during the livestream of 2.8 patch showed a lush forest filled with large, whimsically-sized plants. There were also beach-island areas and elaborate jungle temples. The game’s gameplay footage revealed that players could transform environmental elements, such as large mushrooms, by using various elemental powers. An example of this is how electrocharging mushrooms can increase its springiness, which gives players a greater chance of jumping off them. Sumeru’s in-game description also indicates that Sumeru will have desert areas. Based on the Arabic names for some characters and the environment, it is likely that the region was inspired by North Africa and South Asia. We don’t know much about the enemies yet, but the region will add an Electro Regisvine boss for collecting ascension materials.

A new element, Dendro, will be introduced in the 3.0 update.

You will not only get a brand new region, but you’ll also be able to fight Dendro. Dendro is the. Genshin ImpactSimilar to grass-type abilities, for players who are used to RPG elemental matchups. This new element will not only introduce a lot of characters but also change the combat and exploration strategy of the game. In a video from the developers, the team described Dendro as being the “last piece in Genshin Impact’s element system.”

Developers also stated that Dendro is driven by three concepts: wisdom, catalysis and life. These concepts are being reflected in level design and environment mechanics, as well as elemental reactions during battle. There are two battle reactions: Bloom occurs when Hydro-focused characters use a water attack on a Dendro enemy, or teammate. Catalyze happens when Electro is applied to Dendro (it seems like a kind of buff). From previous fights with other Dendro slime, we’ve also seen the Burning reaction, which occurs after a character uses a Pyro attack on it.

This update will launch a new story with new characters

Hoyoverse released another trailer that didn’t reveal all that much of Sumeru, but showed the entirety of the Fatui Harbingers for the first time. As a super-powered group of bad guys who are known for causing political turmoil in the Teyvat world, the FatuiHarbingers were created. They challenge the Traveler and continue their quest. The trailer revealed that the council is up to something, but we don’t know what they’re scheming about yet. The trailer showed Collei, another Dendro character, which will become playable in 3.0.

Is 3.0 the release date for this update?

Genshin ImpactEach six-week period, Hoyoverse receives a patch. Hoyoverse hasn’t announced the patch release date yet, but has stuck to this release cadence in the past. If the developer sticks to their normal schedule, 3.0 should launch around Aug. 24, or very close to it.

Maintenance would begin at 5:00 PM EST and end at 2:20 pm PST if it follows the normal schedule. Maintenance used to take a while. Hoyoverse will give Primogems and a maintenance bonus.

What banners will be displayed throughout the update?

Genshin Impact’s Twitter account announced that they have added a few more characters. So far, we’ve gotten basic information about the Electro merchant DoriDendro Archer ColleiThe Dendro ranger and. Tighnari. Others characters were leaked but Hoyoverse is yet to officially confirm their existence. We don’t know when each character will get their banner, but it’s very likely that these three will come before other leaked characters, since Hoyoverse already released official information about them.
