Game Pass Core replacing Xbox Live Gold with free games, no price hike
Microsoft’s Xbox Live Gold subscription service will be replaced by Xbox Game Pass Core this September, offering access to online multiplayer on Xbox platforms and a selection of “over 25 games” for $9.99 per month or $59.99 per year.
Microsoft announced Monday that Game Pass Core subscribers would have access to both first- and Third-party titles. The Among Us, Doom Eternal, Fallout 4,, Forza Horizon 4, Gears 5, Halo 5: GuardiansThen, The Elder Scrolls OnlineEvery two or three months, more games are added to the service.
Xbox Game Pass Core will replace Games with Gold. Xbox Live Gold members have been receiving a monthly free game allocation that’s become less and less important over the course of the year. On September 1, Games with Gold is ending. However, Microsoft notes that Xbox 360 titles redeemed via Games with Gold in the past will be retained in players’ libraries.
Microsoft has announced that Xbox Live Gold users will be automatically upgraded to Game Pass Core membership on September 14. The company promises “member deals and discounts” as part of Xbox Game Pass Core.
