Fire Emblem Engage’s new protagonist has the most absurd haircut

Nintendo unveiled a new Fire Emblem title at Nintendo Direct Tuesday. It’s called Engage Fire EmblemThe new game will let us see our old friends Marth, in summons form. However, I still have questions about my new protagonist. I’m most interested in his hair.

The trailer teases some of the story: The protagonist has been asleep for a thousand years and didn’t realize it. He appears to be fighting, and the trailer also shows that he uses rings to infuse himself with the ability summon past warriors. He is unique in his character design, sporting bright red hair and blue eyes.

It was a strong reaction from the fans. It was brought up during the livestream and viewers responded by flooding the chat with comments comparing the look to Colgate toothpaste. Colgate uses similar colors. It was also compared to Icee Slushies. For me personally, the design felt very “fourth of July turned into an anime mascot,” except in a Fire Emblem game. But even with those comparisons, the character’s design actually slaps.

I think that it’s largely because he actually stands out in a sea of media that’s filled with character designs that have ridiculous haircuts. Yelan has a haphazard style that makes him look like he is having a lot of fun with his bangs. Genshin Impact, to the spiky peaks of Goku, I’m sort of used to hairstyles that are out there. This makes it even more interesting. The key art for the female character shows that it is a very similar design. She looks amazing.

Furthermore, I’m guessing there might be a reason his eyes and hair are red and blue. Perhaps it’s a symbol of his lineage or some power in the game world. Regardless, it’s stuck out to me so color me interested.
