Final Fantasy 14: Endwalker’s biggest changes, including hair for Viera

Final Fantasy 14’s Endwalker Early access to expansion launched Friday. The entire game will be updated to version 6.0 with this update. There will be many changes and many aren’t locked to those who buy. Endwalker.

This patch has many modifications that we cannot explain in detail. We highlight some of the most important. For the full patch notes, you can check out Square Enix’s post on the Lodestone.

New areas, higher levels of cap and new jobs are all part of the expansion process.

There is a lot of stuff coming, just like with all expansions. There are new areas to explore and two new jobs (Sage & Reaper), as well as an increased level limit to 90. You will also find new enemies like the amazing skinny alien cactaur and new story quests.

Summoner gets reworked and jobs are being tweaked.

All jobs will be getting the usual updates and new skills, in case you didn’t see them before. Summoner has undergone a total overhaul to allow it to summon higher versions of its egi primals.

Now, male Vieras are playable

Currencies changing

It happens with every expansion. However, let us remind you, your Tomestones or scrips will change, so it is important to replace them.

Yellow Scrips are becoming obsolete, so you’ll need to change them into White Scrips at the scrip exchange in Revenant’s Toll. Red Scrips are just getting straight up removed (they’ve been obsolete for a while now).

Allagan Tomestones of Allegory and Revelation are both getting removed, and you can trade them in at Revenant’s Toll to make them into Allagan Tomestones of Poetics. Phantasmagoria Tomes, however, are being removed. These have also been out of date for some time, just like Red Scrips.

Statistics and damage figures are being squished

Square Enix is squishing the stat numbers down a bit, as they were getting too big and hitting levels of “if we do any more damage, the system might break.” However, enemies have been scaled down, too; so even if it looks like you’re dealing less damage, with the scaling it should be relatively the same amount.

Be done with belts

As of patch 6.0, belts are no longer allowed to be worn. While you won’t lose the belts you’re wearing, you won’t be able to buy them anymore. However, you can either desynth or give them back to Grand Company Seals.

You can get any belts your character owns from the Calamity Salvager.

It’s losing its gender identity as the maid gown

After what feels like an eternity, male characters can now wear the Loyal Housemaid’s Uniform. While there are a few sets that don’t have to be gender-locked like the Thavnairian bustier or the Loyal Butler Uniform which can both be worn by male characters, we all know what they really love: the maid gown. Right in time for the male Viera

More hair choices for female Vieras

Plagued by what producer Naoki Yoshida called “unique heads,” Viera and Hrothgar couldn’t wear all the hairstyles other races could, until patch 6.0. Viera will now have more styling options, while Hrothgar’s hair will grow in patch 6.1.

It is now a distant memory that high-quality materials have been discontinued

When you gather items, you won’t have to worry about gathering them in high quality anymore. However, you can still make HQ-quality items from the materials that you create.
