Everything Everywhere All at Once directors sign deal with Universal

The Daniels are making waves. Two directors from the back Swiss Army Man and this year’s surprise hit, You can have everything at onceUniversal Studios has signed a 5-year development agreement with. Nope’s Jordan Peele is partnered with as well.

Daniel Kwan, Daniel Scheinert and their director duo, The Daniels, have released their first theater movie. Swiss Army ManA24 was an artsy independent distributor. The directors’ follow-up, You can have everything at once, was released in March of this year and has proven to be A24’s highest grossing movie ever, making more than $100 million at the global box office so far. While their accomplishments on modest budgets have already been impressive, it’s likely that Universal will offer them a slightly larger playground for their signature brand of strange comedy and sincere emotion.

A24 was founded in 2012 and has enjoyed a cult following due to its films and reputation for producing slightly more bizarre, off-beat projects than other studios. The studio’s releases movies and shows like, The Green Knight, The Hereditary, Midsummar, Ex Machina, VVitch, Gems Uncut, FarewellPlease see the following: Euphoria.

If The Daniels’ deal is similar to the ones other directors sign when they take exclusive deals, it will give them the opportunity to develop and create new ideas and films under the Universal Studios banner, while also allowing them to produce films by other artists as well. Both haven’t yet revealed what the next project will be.
