Everything Announced During The September 2022 Nintendo Direct

Today’s Nintendo Direct September 2022 was packed with surprises, announcements, and returns to franchises we’ve not seen for years. If you weren’t able to catch the 45-minute Direct today, no worries – we have you covered!

This is Everything that was Announced at Today’s Nintendo Direct

Please note that the following items are not listed in their order of appearance. 

Tears of the Kingdom: The Legend of Zelda

That’s right! The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild’s second sequel now has a name. This is The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. We not only got the new title but a trailer with gameplay and a release date of May 2023. Read our complete story to learn more. 

Fire Emblem: Get Engaged

Nintendo unveiled a Fire Emblem-themed game, Fire Emblem Mirage. This new Fire Emblem videogame brings back fans’ favorite characters Marth and Celica. This video gives us a glimpse at the Divine Edition of this game’s protagonist and many other details. The game will be available on Switch starting January 20, 2023. Pikmin 4.

Pikmin 4 finally arrives next year after years of anticipation. This long-awaited sequel was announced by Nintendo in a brief teaser trailer. It is strangely missing any Pikmin. The trailer can be viewed here. You can also read our full story about Pikmin 4 

GoldenEye007 is Back, Alongside Other Nintendo 64 Games

Nintendo revealed that GoldenEye007 would be available on Nintendo Switch Online with the Expansion Pack Membership Subscription. Nintendo did not show any gameplay, however, the game will allow for online play. Xbox Game Pass will also allow GoldenEye to be played online with 4K resolution and smoother frames. 

Nintendo revealed the following games that will soon be available on Nintendo Switch Online + Expandsion Pack:

  • Mario Party 1
  • Mario Party 2
  • Mario Party 3
  • Pokémon Stadium
  • Pokémon Stadium 2
  • 1080 snowboarding
  • Excitebike 64

Octopath Traveler II

Nintendo announced Octopath Traveler II as a sequel for 2018’s Octopath Traveler. It is not a sequel but it will have a brand new cast of characters who travel through the Solistia land during a different era and time period. Watch the trailer to learn more about each of our eight protagonists. 

Nintendo Switch Sports Golf arrives this Holiday Season

In the months leading up to Nintendo Switch Sports’ launch, Nintendo promised two significant free updates. First, the update was released in the summer. It allowed you to use your leg strap accessory for complete soccer matches. A second update would bring golf to the game. Nintendo announced today that the update was delayed and golf will be coming to Nintendo Switch Sports in this holiday season. The exact date of release was not disclosed. This update is covered in detail in our article. 

Theatrhythm Final Bar Line

The loved Final Fantasy Theatrhythm series returns with Theatrhythm Final Bar Line, a brand-new entry. This console version of the series’ first entry will feature modernized backgrounds and almost 400 song options. The paid DLC will add 90 additional songs to the total. This includes songs by Nier and Octopath Traveler. Season Passes will be available that add 27 songs to this game. Read more about Theatrhythm Final Bar Line. 

Mario Kart Deluxe’s 3rd Wave of DLC

Nintendo provided an appetizer while we waited for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe’s third DLC wave. Nintendo announced that Merry Mountain will be in the next wave of DLC for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. It is a song from 2020’s Mario Kart Tour. Peach Gardens was a 2005 track. 

Resident Evil Village, Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, And Resident Evil 2 And 3 Remake Cloud Versions

Capcom brings a variety of Resident Evil titles to Switch. The eShop will have cloud versions of Resident Evil Village and Resident Evil 7 Biohazard. Resident Evil 2 Remake (Remake), Resident Evil 3 Remake, and Resident Evil 3 Remake (Remake). These games will be released before 2022. The Village game will go live on October 28th. Kirby’s Return To Dreamland 

Today’s Direct saw Nintendo announce that Kirby’s Return to Dream Land will be ported to the Wii. It looks amazing. You can now play with up to four players using Joy-Cons. Multiplayer is also possible in the new expanded minigame selection. Switch gets it February 24, 2023. Our full story has more details. 

Fae Farm

Phoenix Labs, a Dauntless developer, announced Fae Farm at today’s Nintendo Direct. It’s an important shift in the gameplay of the studio. Gone are the monster hunts – instead, we’ll be farming. Watch the Fae Farm trailer here. Read our story to learn more. 

The Switching is Easy With Two

Switch will be getting It Takes Two this November. This game can only be enjoyed together. Switch allows you to play on one console or on multiple Switches via wireless, or both via local wireless. More information can be found here. 

First Post-Launch Splatoon (3 Splatfest) Details

Nintendo announced that Splatoon 3’s first Splatfest will take place later in the month. It will be held from Sept. 23 to Sept. 25, specifically. It will be either Team Grub or Team Gear. You can choose which team you would rather bring with you to a deserted island. Read our full story about the Splatfest. 

Get Quick Hits

After we have finished with the big announcements, let’s get to the fast-paced blitz on the remaining announcements from today’s Nintendo Direct. 

  • Just Dance 2023A new trailer has been released for the game, as well as information about multiplayer on Switch consoles. BTS tracks will be added to the game. 
  • Rune Factory 3: SpecialWhen this game launches on Switch next year, Return to Rune Factory 3. Nintendo has also announced that Rune Factory 3 will launch “in the future”. 
  • IbThis 2D exploration game takes a girl to an art gallery. The young girl will explore busy exhibitions until she finds the right piece. Every decision she makes will affect her destiny. Ib is launching on Switch 2023 
  • TunicA hit Indie game, which was released earlier in the year on Xbox, then PlayStation 2, is now coming to Switch.
  • Final Fantasy VII Reunion – Crisis CoreToday’s Direct featured a brand new Crisis Core trailer from Nintendo. The trailer will be available on Switch and other platforms starting Dec. 13.
  • Radiant SilvergunSwitch will soon get the arcade-style shoot-em all Radiant Silvergun. 
  • Bayonetta 3Nintendo began to increase its marketing efforts for Bayonetta 3’s October 28 launch. This includes a trailer that was shown during the Direct today. 
  • Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Expansion Pass DLC Vol. 2Nintendo has released Vol. Nintendo released a trailer for Vol. Completing her quest will get Ino into your party. When this DLC launches on Oct. 13, Challenge Battles will be available in the game. 
  • Mario + Rabbids Sparks HopeNintendo unveiled a trailer for Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope. The game will hit Switch Oct. 20, 2018. 
  • Tales of Symphonia RemasteredNintendo has remastered Tales of Symphonia, bringing enhanced graphics to the Switch and a new gameplay experience. The launch date is early 2023. 
  • HarvestellaToday’s Direct saw Nintendo reveal a brand new trailer and reveal that a Switch demo will be available for the game later this day. This trailer will show the first days of the farm season. Your save data can also be used to transfer it into the complete game. Harvestella launches on November 4
  • Mario Strikers: Battle LeagueNintendo announced that the second update to the game will be available later in this month. Pauline joins the team as a strong physical force with quick moments and powerful tackles. Diddy Kong also joins the roster. His skills and pass accuracy are impressive, making him a fast midfielder. Additional gear will be added, including Striker Ranking, which is a stadium with customizable options for the supporters and splash-match celebration effects. 
  • Atelier Ryza 3: Alchemis of the End & the Secret KeyRyza, her friends and their boat set sail for the mysterious islands. Explore this planet free of charge when Switch launches it on Feb. 24, 2023. 
  • Story of Seasons: The Wonderful LifeStory of Season: A Wonderful Life is a remaster of a game nearly twenty years old. It features many updates and modern graphics. The game will be available on Switch by the end of summer 2023. 
  • Master Detective Archives: Rain CodeYou’ll be taking on dark fantasy cases in this mystery thriller from Danganronpa as Yuma, a trainee of the Detective Agency. This will be available on Switch in spring 2023. 
  • Various Daylife: The adventure-RPG mechanics of this game are combined with simulation gameplay. There will be more than 100 tasks per day to help you build your character and strengthen your relationships with locals. Switch is getting it now. 
  • SifuSifu will arrive at Switch in November 8.
  • The Lunar Eclipse Mask: Fatal FrameRuke Minazuki is now an adolescent after mysteriously vanishing as a baby. In classic Fatal Frame fashion, she visits an abandoned hospital looking for lost memories. The game will debut in West on Switch early in 2023. 
  • North Star’s Fitness Boxing FistYou can box with Kenshiro, a familiar face in fighting games. This game will hit Switch on March 20, 2023.
  • SpongeBob SquarePants The Cosmic ShakeThis game features SpongeBob, Patrick and their accidental unravelling of the universe. This game is coming to Switch next year. 
  • OddBallersYou can throw anything at your enemies in this multiplayer video game for Switch that will be available early next year. 
  • FactorioThe mission is to rebuild the entire system from scratch after an error causes you crashland on another planet. Switch is the next to get it. 
  • Endless DungeonIn this RPG, Switch will be hitting next year. 
  • Front Mission 1st and 2nd Remakes: These two remakes were showcased by Nintendo in a trailer which aired today during the Direct. This November’s release of the first remake is on Switch, while the second will arrive next year. A remake of Front Mission 3 was also announced by the company.
