Epic Games Achievements Launch Next Week

Achievement hunters, get ready! Epic Games has launched its achievement program for a few games in their Epic Game Store this week. Epic Achievements are a program that takes elements of other platforms and merges them.

Epic’s achievements are a bit of an amalgamation of what Xbox and PlayStation have for their digital rewards. You can play each game to earn 1000 XP, and more if you complete it. Each achievement awards a specific amount of XP. This determines which award is ranked. Here’s the breakdown:

  • Bronze = 5-45 XP
  • Silver = 50-95XP
  • Gold = 100-200XP
  • Platinum = 250 XP

The coveted Platinum Achievement is available to those who have earned 1000 XP through a particular game. It adds 250 extra XP on your Epic Games account. You can use the experience you gain to improve your profile. This is similar to what Sony does for PlayStation trophies. There’s no word on whether any of these achievements or levels grant any perks for in-game content, game discounts, or recognition outside of bragging rights between friends, but it’s nice to have included on Epic Games’ launcher.

The first round games that will be receiving Epic Achievements next week include Kena: Bridge of Spirits (Hades), Alan Wake Remastered (Rocket League), Pillars of Eternity (4, Zombie Army 4), and many others. Epic says it’s “working to get these tools to more developers, so you can expect to see Epic Achievements popping up in your favorite games later this year.” It should also be noted that while Epic has made tools for “developer achievements” available in Epic Store titles, those will not automatically be transitioned to this new system. However, devs will have the ability to take those achievements and translate them to the new Epic version.
