Soon you’ll get to explore the first free chapter called “In the Footsteps of a Nightrunner.” You will be tasked with fighting Special Infected and the two new variants that make it even more challenging to survive the night. A Nightrunner Agent gives you special access to an exclusive menu that includes various activities you must complete to earn reputation points. You can rank up quickly and earn tokens that you can use to buy new gear, or tickets for unique missions.

Meet Harper, the Nightrunner of Old

A sudden increase in Infected number in The City has led to a new vendor at Fish Eye Canteen. Harper is a Nightrunner soldier. The City was once his shield and he promised to continue protecting it. He now offers his assistance. Harper allows you to access a shop that offers a wide range of Bounties, as well as amazing gear. But before you go out shopping, you’ll have to prove yourself to him. If you are a high-ranking enough person, then your items will be available for purchase.

New Gear and the Rank System

Harper’s shop acts as your gateway to the new rank system. Rank up by accumulating enough reputation points through various activities and exchange them for one of the new in-game currencies – the tokens. You can also obtain the second currency by killing enemies. You can unlock new goods by reaching higher ranks. These allow you to spend your hard earned resources on premium gear, weapons and consumables. Some items are locked until you achieve the necessary rank.

You can take on new missions and complete bounty assignments

Harper gives you Mission Tickets as a bonus item. They will give you the ability to enter dangerous, punishing Missions. You’ll have to go through time trials, which will put your skills in stealth, combat, and even parkour to the test. You lose the game if you fail to complete the objectives within the time limit. Before you throw your hat in the ring, make sure to stock up on several tickets! That’s not all. In addition, you’ll be asked to face the infected head on in a number of daily or weekly activities. Each day, there are five small-scale encounters. They change every hour. However, weekly bounties are more complicated than the daily equivalent. They are more expansive and focus on fighting against the latest enemy types.

Facing the mutation infected

The City has seen new dangerous varieties. A dangerous but mobile Volatile Hive may be found in Dark Hollows and cleared GRE Quarantine zones. Take care. You can call nearby Volatiles for protection while you attempt to loot the item.

Volatile Tyrants are a second variant that is much more dangerous, but also rare. Be prepared to face the elusive hunter on the rooftops at night while it’s feasting. These two Infected are the most dangerous of the Infected, and they have the highest number of mutations. It’s a risky but rewarding encounter.

“Chapter 1: In the Footsteps of a Nightrunner” will be released for free. Prepare to take on tough-to-the bone foes. Don’t miss out on new special gear and remember, there are more chapters to come!
