Disney’s Splash Mountain gets a new name, date: Tiana’s Bayou Adventure
It’s official: Splash Mountain, the popular roller coaster at Disneyland and Disney World, is being renamed to Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, Disney announced Friday.
This new name was created to replace controversial film, which inspired the original concept of the rides. Song of the South With the animated movie of 2009 The Princess and Frog. Splash Mountain remains open at the moment at both Disney World and Disneyland, but Disney said Friday that the revamped rides are scheduled to debut in “late 2024.” The company has yet to announce when it will shut down the attractions for renovation.
Disney uploaded a video showing Charita Carter as executive producer of relevancy activations Walt Disney Imagineering. She is on a New Orleans trip. In it, Carter discusses the city’s influence on the ride. “In many ways, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is a love letter to New Orleans,” Carter said in a Disney Parks blog. “Like the musical city that inspired this attraction, Tiana’s second act is about a community working in harmony to achieve something extraordinary.”
Splash Mountain, a coaster ride that is currently inspired by the 1946 Disney movie “Disney Magic”, can be found on Splash Mountain. Song of the South It has received criticism for glorifying slavery, and its reductive depiction of Black characters. Splash Mountain was criticized even though it opened back in 1989. Disney had originally planned to remake the ride in June 2020.
Chase spoke about the attractions in detail as part of an upcoming Disney video. Tiana is now a human and not a frog in the new concept. Tiana invites everyone to a Mardi Gras party at her park, and the ride has been completely redesigned.
