Each of these Strongholds has its own story to be told, goals to achieve, and enemies to defeat.

After finishing any of these Strongholds, you’ll gain a new public space, which — depending on the Stronghold — can include things like vendors, Waypoints, and side quests. Hawezar’s Strongholds are all guarding an Altar of Lilith. This makes them more important to clear.

What is a Stronghold in Diablo 4?

In Sanctuary, Strongholds represent points of interest which have been taken over by the evil. Strongholds are located in different locations, each with their unique objectives, storylines, bosses, and puzzles. These territories are initially infested with enemies and must be cleared by your group. The Stronghold becomes more public once you’ve completed an event, and gotten rid of the evil.

When you conquer a Stronghold, you’ll gain experience, rewards, and Renown, which can be used to unlock additional rewards such as skill points and health potion charges. Once completed, the Strongholds can become towns complete with NPCs. Clearing Strongholds can open shortcuts to dungeons or side quests.

Come prepared to play with equipment that is a level or two above the character you are playing as.

Crusader’s Monument

Crusader’s Monument is located to the North of ZarbinzetHawezar, capital city.

1. Purge Monument by eliminating enemies from the central area.
2. Investigate the Graverobber’s Corpse by the brazier in the middle.
3. Pick up the Exhumed Crusader’s Skull.
4. The Brazier will be activated when you kill the enemy, and the skull is placed in it.
5. Explore the surrounding area and collect more Crusader Skulls.
6. Put all three Crusader Skulls into the Brazier.
7. Beat the ghosts of Sir Thom and Sir Morholt.
8. Light the Wanderer’s Shrine, which is indicated by a diamond on your map and will finish off the Stronghold.

Eriman’s Pyre

Eriman’s Pyre is located West of Tree of WhispersThe vendor at the end of Hawezar’s game.

1. Talk with Spirit of Pyre
2. Use the Villagers’ Remains on the Fiery Focus to unlock each of the four gates, killing the boss inside before moving on the next section.
3. Once all the areas have been cleared, activate the Pyre.
4. Kill Duz’Agur, Eriman’s Bane.
5. Light the Wanderer’s Shrine, which is indicated by a diamond on your map and will finish off the Stronghold.

Vyeresz

Vyeresz is West of BackwaterThe eastern side of Hawezar is home to.

1. Find and destroy the Serpent’s Eye Shrines.
2. The Cultist attack can be survived by opening the front door.
3. To reach the boss, explore the ruins.
4. Dianthus is defeated.
5. Light the Wanderer’s Shrine, which is indicated by a diamond on your map and will finish off the Stronghold.
